Fixture installation in Casa Grande looks like a forty-five minute job. Sometimes it is. The reason a faucet swap sometimes turns into a Saturday and a second trip to the hardware store almost never has anything to do with the new fixture — it has to do with what the new fixture is being connected to.
Here is an honest breakdown of which of these are reasonable to take on yourself, and where the trouble actually hides.
The new faucet is the easy part. The hard part is under the sink: a shutoff valve that has not been turned in fifteen years and will not close, or closes and then will not seal again. Supply lines that are original to the house. A mounting nut in a space where no human hand fits.
If the shutoff will not fully close, the job stops being a faucet swap and becomes a valve replacement, which means shutting off water to the house. That is the moment most weekend faucet projects turn into a phone call.
Worth doing yourself if: the shutoffs turn smoothly and seal completely, and you can
comfortably reach the mounting hardware.
Mechanically straightforward — and unforgiving of small mistakes. The wax ring has to seat correctly, the flange has to be in good condition and at the right height relative to the finished floor, and the bolts have to be snugged evenly without overtightening. Porcelain does not forgive an overtightened bolt.
The failure mode here is what makes it worth caution: a toilet that was not sealed properly does not leak where you can see it. It weeps underneath, into the subfloor, for months. By the time anything shows at the surface, you are repairing floor, not plumbing.
The other common surprise on older homes is a flange that has corroded or sits too low after new flooring went in. That needs correcting before the new toilet goes on, and no amount of extra wax compensates for it.
Worth doing yourself if: you have done one before and the flange is in good shape.
Two systems at once — plumbing and electrical — which is why this one goes sideways more often than people expect. The unit has to be mounted properly or it vibrates and eventually leaks at the flange. The drain plumbing usually has to be re-cut to meet the new unit’s outlet height. And if a dishwasher drains into it, the knockout plug has to be removed, or the dishwasher backs up on its first run.
That last one is the single most common disposal-install mistake, and it is invisible until the dishwasher fails.
Worth calling about if: the new unit is a different size than the old one, or a
dishwasher connects to it.

Different category entirely. Anything involving a shower or tub valve means going into the wall, which means the job is now about correct connections in a space you will close permanently. Tile and drywall go back over it. A connection that weeps slightly is something you will not discover for a year, and then you are opening the wall again.
Our recommendation: call. This is not a pride thing — it is that the cost of getting
it wrong is disproportionate to the cost of the job.
Fixture installation problems are almost never about the fixture. They are about the condition of what is already there: valves that will not close, supply lines at the end of their life, a flange that has corroded, drain plumbing that no longer lines up. In a house of any age, at least one of those is usually true.
That is also why a plumber replaces the shutoff valve and the supply lines while the fixture is off, rather than reusing twenty-year-old parts to save fifteen dollars. It is the same trip. Doing it then is nearly free. Doing it later is a second service call.

We quote fixture installation flat-rate before any work starts, so the number you approve is the number you pay. The variable is almost never the faucet — it is whether the shutoff valves and supply lines underneath need replacing at the same time.
Yes. Plenty of our fixture installation jobs are customer-supplied faucets, toilets, and disposals. Bring what you picked and we will fit it.
Not always, but the failure mode argues for one. A toilet that is not seated correctly weeps into the subfloor for months before anything shows, and at that point you are repairing floor rather than plumbing.
